Adobe Photoshop is a very powerful tool that can be used in a variety of ways. It can be used to create photos, add text, create storiesboard sequences, create illustrations and make many other types of graphics. The problem is that this software is extremely easy to ruin with too many settings. Therefore, before you use this software, you need to follow these steps to make sure that you have the right settings enabled.
The first thing that you need to do if you want to follow these steps is to install Adobe Photoshop. If you do not have it already installed, you will first need to download it from Adobe’s website .
None of these features was absent in the earlier versions, and is surprisingly formidable set of features in what is, by any measure, a very bright company (and a very worthy competitor to, say, Lightroom). As much as I’d like to, I just can’t evaluate a program unless I could find a use case for it.
So far, in trying to figure out whether to purchase the new version of Photoshop (which I haven’t yet done and won’t be able to do until Sunday, when it must be returned or the $30 credit expires), I have found no reason not to.
Yet this latest version does have a few drawbacks. The biggest problem is that it seems to have grown to an unwieldy size, at least compared with previous versions of the program. There are more options, buttons and menus, and more features to dig through. In addition to having to scroll to see the submenus, it’s sometimes easier to read a post on the Computerbeta blog or jump into a forum discussion than to read a menu to figure out the function of a particular tool.
Even in the short time since my last review, it seems that there are more ways to change settings within Photoshop than there have ever been. So every time I attempt to figure out the program’s key settings and preferences, I end up playing a game of whack-a-mole as I click within the Preference menu.
I’ve tried to see if this is a universal problem, and to some degree it is. In fact, I’ve tried the previous versions of Photoshop to see if it’s different, and, yes, some of the menus and toolbars are more user-friendly in previous versions than they are in Prime, but I can’t say the same for the error messages.
Let’s say you created an awesome 16-bit poster for a skate shop. Your client chooses to present your poster in the same presentation setting they gave you: on paper prints for the local skateboard shop. It is now time to work your magic and make that poster into a 32-bit-color poster suitable for a pro shop. In this step, you’ll set the darkness and contrast of the poster.
Now that you’ve worked in a 16-bit poster, what will you do to use the extra 8 bits of color, just kindly provided by your client? The answer, of course, lies in Photoshop’s color tools. In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to isolate each color of the poster, have a big ol’ composition dialog box open, and start to find any color inconsistencies, determine which ones need to change, and create new color combinations from the color array, giving a new range of possibilities for the poster.
When you need to adjust color, it’s because someone’s artwork looks ‘off.’ Usually, this ‘offness’ can be traced back to some color misalignment; when the colors get out of sync, you feel like you’re seeing the image in 15 different light bulbs — all the colors look incorrect. A few quick-fix color adjustments such as these will often take your client’s artwork from bland to beautiful. The key to better understanding this process is having a clear understanding of the underlying concepts of color and color gradients and their interrelation.
So, how do you begin the process of color correction? Well, if you’ve just received a layout of a poster in Photoshop, you will notice the grayscale palette is filled with 0s and 1s. To remove the grayscale, you simply need to make those black and white areas transparent, or translucent. Go to your color levels window and select the black and white color adjustment layer. To make the black and white layer successful, it can’t be set to “white” and “black”. The grayscale is now perfectly composited from two complementary colors and looks far better. The 3 pixels in the darkest area should be solid black for best effect.
